# 04/09 Market overview

Trump’s tariff war continues to impact global financial markets. The White House Press Secretary announced that the US’s 104% additional tariffs on China officially took effect at noon Eastern Time today, implemented retroactively from April 9th. 

With this news, BTC briefly fell below $75,000, and ETH below $1,400. Based on CoinGecko market data, BTC is now at $75,514.61, down 6.2% in 24h. ETH meanwhile is at $1,417.04, down 10.3% in 24h.
